XII. GRADING SYSTEM Use Only A, B+, B, B-. (F, & I, for Projects in Education use only)

Indicate to what extent the participants must perform to earn the above grades.

Attendance and participation for any graduate level course are expected minimums.  While it is accepted that students may miss certain class sessions, any such absences are expected to be made up in some way.  It should not be implied in any way that absence from class meetings is an acceptable “trade off” for a lower grade.  Grades should be assessed on the quality and timeliness   of work submitted.

XIII.  ATTACH COURSE OUTLINES and SCHEDULES

It is essential that instructors develop and submit this attachment to ensure University approval of the course.  The outline should include the topics to be addressed in each class meeting/session. They should be described in some detail with an eye toward fulfilling the Course Description (VIII) and Course Objectives. (IX). List each class meeting as a session. Each session should include the topic for that session, what will be covered, and what assignments, if any, will be given. Time for individual/independent research or other activities should be acknowledged, if relevant, and can be a small part of the required number of contact hours.  However, the activity  must be accounted for and documented in the  Course Requirements Section (XI).
